Do you accept Insurance? [top]
We are not a participating provider for Medicare and are not associated with any HMO groups. You will need to call your insurance company and ask if they cover blood tests and other services ordered by a Chiropractor. Be sure to document the date and time and the person you spoke with. All services are paid in full at the time of service. Should your insurance company confirm there will be full or partial reimbursement for services, we will provide you with a super bill for you to bill your own insurance.
What is the cost of treatment? [top]
The initial consultation with Dr. Merkle is $125.00 or $80.00 for an initial consultation with one of his fully qualified associates. During your consultation, the doctor will determine what testing needs to be performed. Every person is different, so it really depends on your particular health problems. More complex or serious conditions will likely require more extensive testing. Each case is different, if you are very sick, have cancer or are at end-stage then the cost of testing and nutrients could be quite high.maybe $2,000.00 or more. In reality, that is a pittance compared to the medical costs and drugs and the fact that you will likely be sicker or dead if you continue with the medical treatments and drugs that are not working but insurance is covering. For the price of a nice TV or a week long vacation, most people can get all of the testing and nutrients to get them headed in the right path.
What tests are required? [top]
Every person is different. So it really depends on your particular case.
What testing can I do through your office? [top]
Any blood test, toxic elements assessments [blood, hair, and urine], urinalysis, EKG, plethysmography studies, spirometry [lung function], pulse oximetry, Dexa Scan bone density.
How long does it take to get the test results back? [top]
If you do the testing through our office, it usually takes no more than two weeks to get all of the test results back and your personalized detailed report completed!
Do I have to purchase the supplements from Back To Health? [top]
Of course not! Our job is to make sure that what you are doing is working. The supplements we recommend in our office are the products that we have experience with and have been shown to make the changes in the blood work we would like to see. Generally, you can get these same supplements in a health food store or online but you may find they are cheaper through the Back To Health Center. Be sure to meticulously check the dosage when comparing prices. You can use the supplements of your choosing but make sure you are getting the correct dosage and most importantly, get re-tested to make sure the supplements are working for you.
Can I get my blood work done through my other doctor? [top]
Of course! You may get your blood work done through another doctor. However, it would be prudent for you to check your pricing thoroughly. Most patients find the price will usually be less if you get it through the Back To Health Center. Plus, because Back To Health Center does not participate with insurance companies, any findings will not go on your permanent record. Remember, if you decide to go through your insurance company for reimbursement, the test findings will go on your permanent record and will affect future premiums and ratings.

Do You Take Patients Who Are Out Of State? [top]
Yes! We can set up phone consultations and we have the ability to order the testing you need from anywhere in the United States. We do however, strongly recommended that you have a face to face consultation with the doctor at least once.
What makes you different from other "nutritionists" or "health professionals"? [top]
We use scientific objective testing in our analysis and recommendations and we see objective results.Some of the diagnostic testing we use are blood testing, toxic and elemental hair testing, food allergy testing (ALCAT and Elisa), DMSA urinary challenge, DEXA bone density scan, and EKG. There are a lot of very questionable 'energy' techniques to determine diseases and conditions including the many variations of muscle testing. Studies have shown they are no better than just guessing. We get our great results because we test and we use objective testing methods.
How long will it take before I start to see improvement in my health problems? [top]
Understand that we don't have a cure for your problem whether it is a rash, MS, diabetes or cancer. Our goal is to get you healthier. Progress is the key and there should be some definite, objective improvement within about 2 months if what we are doing and recommend is going to work. Do you have 2 months? If you can give us 2 months and you really work and do what is needed, it is highly unusual that progress/improvement is not seen. Then the goal is to keep you improving on a consistent basis. Sometimes a 2-3% improvement in 2 months could be the best that we can hope for but if you continue to improve 2-3% every 2 months for the next 2-3 years, where will you be? Some patients with serious conditions like MS and Lupus have taken 6 years to really get their condition under control and in remission. We make no guarantees that you will have similar results. This is all dependant upon compliance
